Robots Donated to help health workers in Covid-19 wards
Donation of robots to Government Hospitals
Zafi Robot – Propeller Technologies, an Incubatee at DST supported TBI at SASTRA unveiled Zafi Medic to deliver food and medicines to COVID – 19 patients under quarantine. Robot Zafi was successfully tested at Stanley Medical Hospital, Chennai.
To help the frontline hospital staff like doctors, nurses and sanitary workers, SASTRA Deemed University donated robots to TN Government Hospitals at Chennai, Tiruchirappalli, Tanjore, Madurai Theni, and Tirunelveli Government hospitals each worth around Rs.1.5 lakh. These robots can carry up to 20 kg and are being used in hospitals to serve food and medicine to patients. It is controlled through remote control, which also helps the patient to communicate with the doctors and nurses through the LED screen enabled on the top of the robots. The first robot was handed over to Dr Kumudha Lingaraj, Dean, Thanjavur Medical College. Dr V.Badrinath, Dean, Corporate Relations and Extn. Activities handed over the robots to Mr.O. Paneer Selvam, Deputy Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu at Theni, the District Collector Mr Sivarasu, IAS at Trichy and to Mr.R.D.Udayakumar, Revenue Minister, Government of Tamil Nadu at Madurai.
